After screen calibration, click on settings icon and change interface language to English. When unit shuts down, quickly remove SD card and wait for restart. Switch on your unit and wait for upgrade to complete. Use mspaint.exe on your pc for editing and saving any picture for this purpose. Pictures should be only of 800x480 pixel size and saved as 16/24 bit. You can replace Chinese logo and background before installation by browsing to ZYupdate/ZY8840 res/skin1 and change bk.bmp (background) and logo.bmp (Bootup logo) with pictures of your choice. Extract the downloaded files to root of newly formatted SD card. Mine was 9023 and the new software was a pleasant update which resolved all issues. Check your earlier firmware from your unit 'info' and download same MCU software for your model.
